        The lake is just 90 minutes from O'Hare and about 20 minutes northwest of Rockford.  The rolling hills all around transport you from city life to the heart of the country in a very short time and on decent roads.  The closest main highway is Route 20. It is just fifteen minutes, but a world away.  The nearby towns include, Durand, Davis, Freeport, Monroe WI, Brodhead WI,  Rockton IL and Rockford.

         Our association fees are quite modest.  $620 per year breaks down to $1.70 per day.  Included is 24-hour security, all civil services (road maintenance, association office persons, green space maintenance, lake and infrastructure upkeep). In the forty years, Lake Summerset has been in existence there has never been a special assessment.  
         Many lake property owners never build a home on their lot but choose to use our excellent campgrounds.  Lots start at $5K and go up to $225K for waterfront property.  Homes range from $65,000 to $689,000.  There is a huge diversity in home styles, so you never feel suburbanized.
